Last month… hold on, it’s May already!! So I think it was March??, The Face Shop had a sale on it’s Korean website. Just so happen I was buying some other things from Korea, so I took the chance to try out their cushion foundations at a really good discounted price. I think it was half price! Somehow I’ve never tried a The Face Shop cushion before. I wasn’t thinking of doing in depth reviews or post anything really, cos I don’t think these products are new and I also haven’t had a chance to try them out in detail yet (I’ve been sick with a stomach virus all week… wasn’t pretty……… I shall spare you all from the details :) lol). But someone asked on Instagram, so shout out to @mynameis_shopaholic who motivated me to do this post! :) Anyway, here’s a look at what I bought and my first impressions.
CC Intense Cover Cushion
It was a choice between this one and the CC Cushion Ultra Moist, but considering I was also buying the 24Hr Full Stay CC, which I was thinking would be less intense in coverage (don’t know why I made that assumption…), I decided to buy this Intense Cover Cushion. I was also thinking it might be similar to the Missha Signature Essence Cushion Intensive Cover and wanted to compare the two.
After trying this our a few times, I do feel this is similar to the Missha Signature Essence in coverage. It has very good coverage. But the finish is more similar to the Missha M Magic Cushion Moisture. It has a creamy liquid formula that settles to a powder like satin glow finish. Pigments are quite fine in the formula, creating a soft natural finish even though it has very good medium-high coverage.
I think this one may fit into the Spring/Autumn seasons, but for oily skin it may also work in the less dryer months of winter. This is probably not for humid climates.
I bought the shade V203, which has neutral leaning yellow undertones. It also seems lighter than the Full Stay CC V203 shade. However, the formula did seem to oxidise on my skin after about half an hour of wear. But nothing too bad. Maybe half a shade darker.
Random note: both cushion puffs seem slightly smaller than puffs from other brands. Doesn’t really affect application though. And the lid over the sponge doesn’t open all the way… pet hate of mine ;p
24 Hour Full Stay CC
Who doesn’t want long wearing makeup?! And this received very good reviews so I wanted to give it a try. Plus I like that CC creams correct skin tone and I also like the lightness of CC creams compared to BB creams and cushion foundations. This one is also meant to keep skin moist.
One word. Disappointed. This one may stay on the skin for a long time, but I didn’t like the formula. I’m ok with the semi-matte finish, but the pigments are not very fine. It looks fine on the skin, even smooth. But once blended in and settled, pores are accentuated. I could see the dips of my pores and when I smile, the pores around my mouth are magnified and look very dry. Not a good look… Hmm, I was actually expecting this to be a lighter formula than the Intense Cover Cushion, given it’s a CC cream, I also expected to like this one more than the Intense Cover Cushion. But it turned out to the be the exact opposite. This one has the thicker formula and I like the Intense Cover Cushion better.
Though they are for different in finish, I think this one also fits into the Spring/Autumn seasons.
Also, the V203 shade of this CC is much darker than the Intense Cover Cushion and it’s more orange toned.
Ink Lipquid and Ink Lipquid Moisture
At first I couldn’t tell the difference between these two products. The pictures online didn’t really give me a good idea what the difference was in packaging and formula. The only difference was the “moisture” at the end of the name. But I had been wanting to try out the Ink Lipquid for a while, so why not also try the newer moisture version.
Now that I’ve have them in person, it turns out the packaging is different. The Ink Lipquid has a matte tube, while the Ink Liquid Moisture has a glossy tube. The formula is also different. The Ink Lipquid has a more gel consistency, like a milk tint. While the Ink Lipquid Moisture is more like a liquid lipstick.
I personally prefer the Ink Lipquid, which I find basically is a milky tint. The Ink Liquid Moisture gives beautiful glossy liquid lipstick finish and feel very comfortable on the lips. But I don’t like the Ink Liquid Moisture because of the scent. Which is a personal preference. The scent was a real deal breaker for me…it smells like toilet air freshener and tastes like you’ve accidentally sprayed perfume in your mouth…
And that’s it for my little The Face Shop haul. Hmm… don’t know why I haven’t tried many The Face Shop products. But I quite like the Intense Cover Cushion and the Ink Lipquid.
